It may result from neurological conditions, musculoskeletal injuries, age-related changes, chronic health issues or post-op recovery. Poor mobility can impact independence, increase the risk of falls, and reduce quality of life. Physiotherapy plays a key role in restoring movement and helping individuals regain confidence and control in their daily activities.

Poor mobility may be caused by:

  • Muscle weakness or joint stiffness
  • Neurological impairments (e.g. stroke, MS, Parkinson’s)
  • Post-surgical recovery
  • Deconditioning due to inactivity or illness
  • Balance problems or fear of falling
  • Pain, fatigue, or postural issues

These factors can lead to reduced participation in everyday tasks such as walking, climbing stairs, or getting in and out of bed or on and off chairs

At Physio Matters, our Poor Mobility Rehabilitation Programme is designed to improve movement, safety, and independence. It may include:

  • Strengthening exercises for hips, knees, ankles, and core
  • Gait re-education to improve walking patterns
  • Balance and coordination training to reduce fall risk
  • Functional movement practice – sit-to-stand, transfers, stair climbing
  • Hydrotherapy to support movement in a low-impact environment
  • Advice on walking aids, orthotics, and adaptive equipment

We tailor each programme to the individual’s goals and abilities, helping them achieve their maximum physical potential and lead a more fulfilling life.

If you or someone you care for is experiencing poor mobility, we’re here to help. Contact us to book an assessment or speak to one of our team.
