What is balance training?
Balance training is a targeted physiotherapy approach designed to improve stability, coordination, and confidence in movement. It is especially important for individuals with neurological conditions, post-injury recovery, or those at risk of falls. At Physio Matters, we assess each client’s balance system—including sensory input, muscle strength, and postural control—and create personalised programmes to address specific challenges.
Training may include exercises on unstable surfaces, dynamic movements, strength work, and visual or vestibular integration. We also use specialist equipment and technology to enhance outcomes. Balance training helps clients regain independence, reduce fall risk, and improve overall mobility in daily life.
Whether recovering from stroke, brain injury, MS, or age-related decline, our expert team supports clients in building safer, more confident movement patterns.
Balance training is a targeted physiotherapy approach designed to improve stability, coordination, and confidence in movement. At Physio Matters, we use evidence-based techniques to assess and treat balance impairments caused by neurological conditions, injury, ageing, or post-surgical recovery.
Training begins with a detailed assessment of posture, gait, muscle strength, sensory input, and reaction times. Based on this, our physiotherapists create a personalised programme that may include static and dynamic exercises, proprioceptive training, core strengthening, and functional tasks. Tools such as wobble boards, parallel bars, and harness-supported treadmills may be used to safely challenge and improve balance responses.
For clients with neurological conditions like stroke, MS, or brain injury, balance training helps retrain the brain and body to work together more effectively. It reduces fall risk, enhances mobility, and promotes independence in daily life.
Our goal is to help clients regain control, confidence, and safety in movement—whether walking, standing, or transitioning between positions. Balance training is a key part of rehabilitation and long-term wellbeing.
