Deep Tissue Release
Deep Tissue Release is a specialised manual therapy technique used to relieve tension, reduce pain, and restore mobility by targeting the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue.

What is Deep Tissue Release?
Unlike general massage, deep tissue release focuses on specific areas of tightness, adhesions (commonly known as “knots”), and restricted movement. It is particularly effective for individuals with chronic pain, postural imbalances, muscle stiffness, or those recovering from injury.
This therapy may be recommended when clients experience:
- Persistent muscle tightness or soreness
- Restricted range of motion
- Postural strain from desk work or repetitive tasks
- Scar tissue or adhesions from previous injuries or surgeries
- Muscle imbalances affecting movement and joint stability
These issues often develop due to poor posture, overuse, stress, or trauma, and can lead to discomfort, reduced mobility, and increased injury risk.
At Physio Matters, Deep Tissue Release is integrated into personalised treatment plans and may include:
- Targeted pressure and stretching to release muscle tension
- Manual techniques using hands, elbows, or tools to access deep tissues
- Breaking down adhesions and scar tissue to restore muscle glide
- Improving circulation and promoting healing
- Reducing pain and enhancing flexibility and posture
Sessions are tailored to each client’s needs, and while some discomfort may be felt during treatment, it should never be painful. Most clients report feeling looser, lighter, and more mobile after treatment.
