AAs previously mentioned on this site, Physio Matters’ Clinical Director, Colin Green undertook the inaugural Ultra Great Britain 200-mile race from 20th-24th August 2016 in aid of SHELTER, the charity for the homeless.
Here Colin gives a ‘run-down’ of the race… “I completed 231 miles under 35 hours and reports that this was, by far my hardest running challenge to date. I was one of only 11 finishers out of a select field of 27 ultra-runners. The first day saw me in 1st place after 85 miles from Southport to Broadbottom, near Glossop. However, needing more beauty sleep than most meant that my place slipped compared with the people who managed the whole race without sleep. The next few days were a haze of pain and suffering and I cannot remember lots of details save to say that I arrived in Hornsea on Tuesday evening very relieved to have finished the challenge. I was very well supported along the route from my Dad (Frank Green) and wife (Jane Tonge) who provided food, drinks, rest and encouragement. Initially, I said that I would never do this far again but I am already looking around for my next challenge”
Thanks to all our friends and colleagues who have sponsored Colin for Shelter so far. Please click HERE if you would still like to donate to SHELTER to help us reach our target of £3000.
