Improving Clinical Practice

Improving Clinical Practice

As part of our continued professional development at Physio Matters we are constantly looking at new innovative approaches to neurological rehabilitation. As part of this we have a regular clinical in-service training programme delivered by members of the Physio Matters team or external speakers.

In September, Mat Bush, Specialist Neurological Physiotherapist delivered a very useful session exploring rehabilitation of the hand and upper limb which followed on nicely from the lessons learnt recently from Bioness H200 Training from Matthew Dale exploring the use of Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES). We now have clients benefitting from these systems for both arm and leg after neurological injury or disease.

Last weekend, Colin Green and Eirin Andersen attended the 2-day Accredited Foundation in Aquatic Physiotherapy at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool. This was an excellent course led by Susie Harrison MCSP HT, Accredited Tutor and has provided us with a firm theoretical and practical base to our aquatic therapy sessions. There was also a Physiotherapy Assistant Course prior to this which Katy Willerton attended for a day of Aquatic Therapy training also with Susie Harrison MCSP HT. We now have an increasing range of hydrotherapy pools that we can access across the Northwest, please contact us for more details.

Colin and Eirin are going to be sharing their updated knowledge with the rest of the Physio Matters team in November in a theory session followed by a practical session in the pool.

If you have any questions about either FES or Aquatic Physiotherapy sessions, please feel free to contact the Physio Matters office on 0161 681 6887 or office@physio-matters.org.
