At Physio Matters we understand the need for keeping our skills and knowledge up-to-date and are also keen to assist physiotherapy students in understanding the work that we do especially relating to brain injury rehabilitation.
Throughout 2016 so far we have had a variety of students at the practice work shadowing with our physiotherapists, which has given them an insight in to brain injury during and the kind of work we do.
In mid-April, Colin presented a lecture to final year students at Salford University on the Impact of Therapeutic Alliance in Brain Injury Rehabilitation. Katy Willerton from our Business Development Team also attended this session. It was great to challenge the students on preconceived ideas regarding brain injury rehabilitation.
Colin, Mat and Eirin have all been involved in providing a bespoke half-day posture management programme for the support workers of one of our clients. The support workers have found the sessions extremely useful and have been able to apply the knowledge learnt whilst caring for their client.
Eirin attended a Bobath course in May to broaden her knowledge and enjoyed interacting with other physio’s and other medical professionals. She is now able to apply the lessons learnt to her treatments and we are also looking forward to her sharing the latest development in clinical practice with the rest of the team.
We are further developing the Functional Electrical Stimulator (FES) service that we are able to offer now being the sole distributor of the Bioness L300 (Lower Limb) and H200 (Upper Limb) system in NW England. Please feel free to contact our office on office@physio-matters.org to arrange a FREE demonstration of this system.
We have enjoyed hosting many Multi-Disciplinary team meetings and continue to welcome teams to our offices in the near future. We are happy to help with supplying meeting facilities and refreshments to the Multidisciplinary Teams that we are working with. Please call Katy or Janet on 0161 681 6887 to enquire about this facility.
