Physio Matters Supports NWABI Network

22nd November 2018

The Physio Matters team recently attended the North West Acquired Brain Injury (NWABI) Network in Manchester to meet and network with other professionals working in the world of acquired brain injury.

Members of both our Clinical Team and Business Support Team joined with others from voluntary, public and private sector organisations who specialise in providing services for brain injured adults and children, to learn more about the work and projects members are involved with.

Client Lee a runner-up in NWABI Network Achiever Award

The event also saw the announcement of the winner of the NWABI Network Achiever Award, which recognises the achievement of a nominated individual with an acquired brain Injury. The winner for 2018 was Will who suffered a head injury following a road traffic accident.

Runner-Up for the Award was Lee, nominated by Physio Matters who have been treating him for 8 years following a stroke in 2005. This left Lee in a wheelchair, fully dependent on carers and requiring a hoist for transfers.

Colin Green, Clinical Director at Physio Matters said: “Congratulations to Lee, who we were pleased to nominate for this Award. Lee has worked extremely hard with us over many years on his rehabilitation. He is now able to stand and walk around his property and has engaged in a range of activities, including skiing with Disability Snow Sports UK. This has improved his mobility, core strength and exercise tolerance. Lee’s made great progress and I’m really pleased his achievements have been recognised.”
